These castles of the 13th century and their important vestiges let guess how the castellans lived there and how was organized the defense of the places. A volunteer association undertook restoration work. Visit of the site possible on Tuesdays and Saturdays (days of building sites) and guided visit for groups, on request, by writing to amchott@orange.fr

On the day dedicated to discovering the fortified castles of Alsace, the Sauver le Guirbaden association offers: guided tours every two hours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., calligraphy demonstrations, a mini medieval camp, games for children, and light refreshments.

Discover the Purpurkopf archaeological site, where excavations carried out since 2022 have uncovered a 9th-10th century castrum, considered to be the oldest castle in Alsace. This fortification, probably linked to the ancestors of Pope Leo IX, also bears witness to an earlier occupation of the site.
