A Serbian brass band, a Romanian string orchestra, a nightclub in Greece in the 1970s? Istrati is a bit of all that, skilfully blended with the sounds of polyphonic singing, violins, accordion, guitar, trumpet, tuba and drums! Drawing on their diverse influences, these five musicians explore the possibilities of Balkan music, rooted in age-old celebrations and reaching new heights in an unexpected and exhilarating fusion. Just like the writer of the same name, Istrati is an adventurous and passionate project that isn’t afraid of boundaries!
