This choir, recently formed in our region, is a vocal octet that specialises in sacred polyphony from the Renaissance and Baroque periods. Pierluigi da Palestrina, Giovanni Croce, Hans Leo Hassler and Alessandro Scarlatti, amongst others, are the greatest composers in this genre. Their measured chants showcase multiple voices that respond to one another or overlap, generally without the accompaniment of any musical instruments, but always inspired by the religious music of Western culture. What sets Exultate apart, however, is the addition of a clarinet, which lends its warm, velvety tone, particularly in the lower register of certain pieces.
