Freijohr is inspired by the regional initiative Friehjohr fer unseri Sproch, which aims to promote the Alsatian language and culture through comedy shows and entertainment.
The ASCRO (Rosheim Sports and Cultural Association) organises its Freijohr alternately with the La Rose qui rit festival, every other year. This event celebrates the Alsatian dialect and the talents that bring it to life, particularly comedians and other performers who embody the regional language with creativity and humour. Freijohr thus offers residents and visitors a unique moment where laughter and local heritage come together.
