Starting from the church of Saint-Étienne, the procession will lead to the grotto of Lourdes, located behind the Romanesque church of Saints Pierre & Paul. To make the procession even more solemn, the people of Rosheim are invited to decorate and light up the fronts of their houses.
The town has been dedicated to the Virgin Mary since the Thirty Years' War (1618-1648), during which it narrowly escaped extermination. Since then, the local population has paid tribute to the Virgin Mary, who has always been the town's great protector.
In the event of rain, a time of prayer will be held in the church of Saint Étienne.
